DENTAL WORK NOW COMMON (AND EXPENSIVE)
Tartar build up on teeth is caused by 4 main factors – in this order:
- Dried food (kibble) (sticks around the teeth and pet does not salivate to wash it off)
- Faulty digestion (gut microbiome is out of balance)
- Some underlying health issue eg. kidney complaints
- Poor dental health (tooth enamel, crumbling teeth etc)
Since when is a toothbrush going to fix those factors!
Our choice of homeopathic remedies has proven of value in stopping the build up of tartar, especially if the teeth are tartar-free in the first place (ie young cat or dog or following a dental). If you recognize poor tooth development early we can add another remedy to our DENTAL ASSIST for you.
Some of the ‘treats’ offered as solving dental problems may actually be contributing to the issue; a piece of apple or raw carrot may be more appropriate. Dental work is expensive and it does mean your pet has to have a general anesthetic. Avoiding dental problems just requires some early thinking and observation.
