Meet the Team

“Some people talk to animals.
Not many people listen though.
That’s the problem”

A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Sarndra G Urwin

Dip NAH (Hons),  Dip Cl.Hyp.  HbT

Sarndra spent her childhood on an isolated sheep and cattle station, developing a deep physical and spiritual interest in the land, plants and animals.  At that time some of the old wise ways were still part of farming and she was to remember them well. Many years overseas were spent exploring the origins of indigenous practices that reflected the relationship between man, animal and the planet; there was obviously more to health and healing than the drugs of current orthodox medicine.

On returning to NZ, Sarndra followed her interest in dogs, successfully competing in Dog Breed and Obedience Shows, obtaining NZ’s first CDX Champion Rottweiler bitch; she was also the first competitor to show Rottweiler puppies with their tails on.

Sarndra became a pioneer in holistic animal practices, using her training in nursing, vet nursing, NLP, homeopathy, herbal medicine, flower essences, massage and an adult education qualification to develop programs for animal natural health.

Sarndra has been in practice for over 50 years, founding the New Zealand Holistic Animal Therapists Association and developing a Diploma course in Natural Animal Health. She is a well-known writer on natural animal health issues, publishing the ‘Desktop Guide to Flower Essences for Animals’,  and was a popular feature on Magic National Radio Talkback Sunday Café.

She is passionate about treating our earth with respect, our food with reverence and animals as our equals.

Sarndra shares some of her case studies under ‘Our Stories’ but reminds owners and readers alike that many stories, as in life, are on-going management programs. The joy comes from sharing the journey together.

Sarah

Dip HAT (Hons), NZRHAT
Sarah contributes to the Animal Health Centre Practice as an Holistic Animal Therapies practitioner, specialising in Bowen and Reiki for animals. She often finishes her consultations with a Healing Session, which is always enjoyed by the animals. Sarah has many years of animal experience, adding to her skills as a (now-retired) physiotherapist for people.

The Pet Owner

Attitude is almost everything. For the pet, receiving positive reinforcement from their owner through voice and touch and just ‘being there’ for them often means more than a meal! Owners are our eyes and ears during their animal’s return to wellness. It is the their on-going care and vigilance that enables our chosen
remedies to do their work. They are definitely part of the Team.
